How to Create a Contactless Menu in Under 10 Minutes

A step-by-step tutorial for creating your first QR code menu, with screenshots and tips for getting it right the first time.

By Tabletopp Team

You don't need to be tech-savvy to create a professional QR code menu. Here's exactly how to do it in under 10 minutes.

What You'll Need

  • Your current menu (paper or digital)
  • Photos of your dishes (optional but recommended)
  • 10 minutes of uninterrupted time

Step 1: Sign Up (1 minute)

Head to tble.top/signup and create your free account. You only need an email address to get started.

Step 2: Add Your Restaurant Details (2 minutes)

Fill in the basics:

  • Restaurant name
  • Cuisine type
  • Logo (optional)
  • Primary language
  • Currency

Step 3: Create Your First Category (1 minute)

Start with your main sections:

  • Appetizers
  • Main Courses
  • Desserts
  • Drinks

You can always add more categories later.

Step 4: Add Menu Items (5 minutes)

For each item, add:

  • Name: Keep it simple and clear
  • Description: 1-2 sentences about ingredients or preparation
  • Price: Numbers only, currency is automatic
  • Photo: Optional but increases orders by 30%
  • Dietary tags: Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, etc.

Step 5: Generate Your QR Code (30 seconds)

Click "Get QR Code" and you'll instantly have:

  • A downloadable QR code image
  • A direct link to your menu
  • Options for different sizes and formats

Step 6: Print and Display (1 minute)

Print your QR code and place it on tables. Options include:

  • Table tents (most popular)
  • Adhesive stickers
  • Laminated cards
  • Existing menu holders

Pro Tips for Success

Photos Matter

Menus with photos see 30% higher order values. You don't need professional photography - a well-lit smartphone photo works great.

Keep Descriptions Appetizing

Instead of "Chicken with vegetables," try "Tender herb-roasted chicken breast with seasonal garden vegetables."

Test Before Launch

Have a few staff members scan and browse the menu on their phones. Check for:

  • Easy readability
  • Correct prices
  • Working photos
  • Logical category order

What's Next?

Once your basic menu is live, you can:

  • Add translations for international guests
  • Set up seasonal menu scheduling
  • Review analytics to see what customers view most
  • A/B test descriptions and photos

Create your menu now - it's free to start.
